In the next production, I picked two character models as the two main characters of my story, one is an evil monster, his character is a robot, because I want to have a kind of monster with the sci-fi colours of the scene to match the monster without being so abrupt, and the other is a cute little fox, so that the protagonist looks more pitiful, and in the whole scene with a hint of cute colours. I put the characters into the scene and started to conceptualise the size difference between the two characters and the size they would occupy in the scene, I first put the characters into the doorway of the crane machine to compare the sizes, I needed to be able to get into the doorway of the crane machine, and the other protagonist, the monster robot, I set up as big as possible and could go through the door of the aisle, and the difference in the sizes of the two characters made the chase seem even more unfair! The difference in size between the two characters made the chase even more unfair, and the protagonist was even more pathetic, unable to get out of the chase and resigned to his fate.

I began to think about how to achieve the effect that the teacher wanted to see only the door, so I added a gate in the aisle, so that at first you can not see the shape of the crane machine, after entering the gate, the light suddenly dimmed, here I used the effect of fog, and in the crane machine at the top of the light, so that the protagonist re-entered the door, you can only see the steps and the door. I repeatedly adjusted the intensity of the light source, I changed the contrast of the auto exposure in the project settings as I found the exposure effect of the scene was too bright, this resulted in some harshness in the image, when I reduced the contrast it worked much better. I have reworked some of the material sphere effects, I have put some models inside the doll machine, the dolls have been textured, I have also colour coded the material of each part to keep the overall tone of the doll machine to a pinkish-blue tone, and the rocker of the doll machine has been designed in the shape of a lollipop. I also used a lot of saturated colours to make it look more dreamy and vibrant.

During the week, we learnt how to create Resolume, a software that allows us to add a layer of text or pattern effects to our videos and then project them onto a projector. The teacher explained the basics of the software and how to overlay it onto our own videos.

I’ve made some progress in setting up the scene, I’ve set up a lot of light sources in the scene, which makes the whole scene look colourful, but it has a big impact on the colour of the scene, so I need to adjust the colour of the material sphere more to achieve the colour that I want, I’ve reset the material of the doll machine in Maya to position each piece of the place with a basic colour to distinguish it. The position of each piece and the colour tone of the large colour block, when I put the whole large colour block of the doll machine into the scene, I found that the lighting had a greater effect on it than I thought, so I decided to make the material in UE5, using UE5 I could make a more distinctive effect of the material or the dynamic material, which was very conducive to my conception of the whole scene. I repositioned and scaled the aisle and the crane machine, and then created some colourful texture balls to put into the texture. For the aisle material, I used a dynamic effect to create a flickering light effect on the floor, which I had not thought of before, and I was very satisfied with the result, which gave me a new understanding of material spheres.

Serra suggested that when I entered the crane machine in the scene, the whole picture of the crane machine could not be seen, but only the flashing “Bar” on the doorway or the door plate, when the main character enters, the whole picture of the crane machine can appear, which is more of a kind of surprise feeling.

In this course, we were taught how to import TD into UE5, we can first build a screen in UE5, and then put the TD content into the big screen, which will form a 3D effect, similar to the giant advertisement screen seen on the street.

During this week of production, I found that I hit a bottleneck, I found a lot of material, but they are not quite the same style, and when I did the build of the underwater scene, I found that I had a hard time making the colours colourful, because the ocean is solidified, and the blue blue has an effect on all the objects, the colours are too big, and the whole scene is confined to the blue-green colour, and the rest of the other The other scenes I added were affected by the lighting and it was difficult to bring out the colours I wanted, and when I was thinking of interesting buildings underwater, I found that all the reference models I found were very standard building models, and the interesting models I wanted would take a lot of time to make before I could achieve the underwater world I wanted. And at this point this idea at the suggestion of my teacher required VR again I went to study some videos and found that I had a hard time debugging without equipment so I lost that option of VR. While I was stuck in this problem and couldn’t solve it, there was a new idea conceptualised in my mind, I wanted to do a scene and story production about a crane machine.
